Overview

On September 10, 2026, Larry Klayman filed a personal civil lawsuit against Hasan Piker in Palm Beach County, Florida, seeking more than $150 million in damages and an injunction over Piker’s August 20 remarks. The complaint (opens in a new tab) alleges reckless endangerment, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress. These are Klayman’s allegations and requested remedies, not judicial findings. His announcement (opens in a new tab) identifies the civil case as 50-2026-CA-010209-XXXA-MB.

Piker was discussing Israel's international standing and claims that Jewish institutions intentionally conflate Jewish identity with support for Israel. An image of Michigan politician Jeremy Moss was on screen continuing from an earlier topic. Critics interpreted Piker's wording as victim-blaming or an implicit threat; Piker and his defenders characterized it as a warning about how conflation could expose Jews to antisemitic violence. The relevant context extends beyond the most widely circulated sentence.

The Washington Post (opens in a new tab) reported that specialists it consulted found no manipulation evidence in audio attributed to Jeremy Moss, but could not authenticate it.

Piker’s earlier responses disputed the interpretation that he had encouraged violence. Those statements predate the September 10 lawsuit and should not be read as responses to the complaint. This case brings together the original passage, competing interpretations, Piker’s earlier explanations, and the civil filing.

Arguments

  1. Editorial analysis

Piker's conditional wording can be read as a threat

The conditional structure places Jewish safety after a demand that American Jews stop presenting themselves as singularly invested in Israel. Critics argue that pairing a named group with a prediction that “someone” will arrive can reasonably sound coercive or threatening even when framed as forecast. The on-screen focus on Jewish politician Jeremy Moss sharpened that interpretation, and Piker’s later explanation of intent does not erase the original wording’s foreseeable effect.

    Limit of this argument

The full segment also criticizes the conflation of Jewish identity with Israel and contains no direct instruction to commit violence. The threatening reading is therefore an interpretation of wording and implication, not proof that Piker intended violence.

    Read sources and related claim

    Related claim

Piker’s wording functioned as an implied threat against American Jews.

  1. Documented position

Hasan Piker's explanation, with related responses from Kyle Kulinski and Mehdi Hasan.

Piker says he was warning about antisemitic violence

In the extended context, Piker argues that institutions and politicians endanger Jewish people by tying Jewish identity to a state he describes as increasingly reviled. On this reading, “eventually someone’s gonna come around” predicts antisemitic backlash, and separating Jewish identity from Israel is offered as a way to reduce that danger. Defenders argue that critics remove this causal framing and convert a warning into an endorsement.

    Limit of this argument

The sentence addresses “Jews in America” collectively and uses a menacing hypothetical without cleanly separating diagnosis from blame. Even absent threatening intent, listeners can reasonably hear victim-blaming or coercion in the formulation.

  1. Larry KlaymanFounder of Freedom Watch and plaintiff in the civil suit against Piker, writing on the Freedom Watch website

    Before this statement

The post opened: "if you're an anti-Semite fomenting violence, Larry Klayman, Founder of Freedom Watch USA and Judicial Watch, is coming after you, legally!" It named Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, as next on Klayman's list.

"I have already filed suit against anti-Semitic podcaster Hasan Piker, who is Uygur’s nephew. That has put a target on my back, but I am doing this on behalf of our people, which includes you and your loved ones."
    Condemned

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

In an October 5 Freedom Watch post, Larry Klayman called Piker an antisemitic podcaster, said his lawsuit against Piker had put a target on his back, and said Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian of The Young Turks were next on his list.

    After the statement

Klayman criticized Republicans who he said do not take the threat seriously, described Freedom Watch's Citizens' Grand Juries, and asked readers for donations.

    Why this label?

The reference point is Piker's August 20 remarks and the competing readings of them. Klayman again calls Piker antisemitic and presents his suit as action against people he says foment violence, so we labeled it Condemned, consistent with his earlier statements in this case. Mixed or conditional does not fit because nothing in the post qualifies the condemnation. Evidence level: Klayman's own first-person post on the Freedom Watch website; his descriptions of Piker and others are allegations, not court findings.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

    Challenged the characterization

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

In an Axios interview published September 18, Hasan Piker said Abdul El-Sayed was making a mistake by taking ownership of an insincere characterization while distancing himself from Piker.

    After the statement

The exchange addressed the political fallout from El-Sayed’s response rather than adding a new account of the August remarks.

    Why this label?

Piker disputes El-Sayed’s characterization and distancing rather than directly defending or condemning the underlying August remarks.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  3. Abdul El-SayedMichigan Democratic U.S. Senate nominee

    Before this statement

A debate question raised El-Sayed’s relationship with Piker and asked about Piker’s comments concerning Jewish Americans and Jewish Michiganders.

"Absolutely… when Hasan made these comments about Jewish Americans and Jewish Michiganders, I disavowed them entirely."

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

During a September 15 Michigan Senate debate, Abdul El-Sayed said he had disavowed Hasan Piker’s comments about Jewish Americans and Jewish Michiganders entirely.

    After the statement

El-Sayed said he had spoken with Piker because of Piker’s audience, rather than because of Piker personally.

Michigan Senate debate: Abdul El-Sayed on Hasan PikerDebate response about Hasan Piker; broadcast September 15, 2026

    Why this label?

  4. Hasan PikerPolitical streamer and commentator, in an onstage conversation with Peter Mertens at the ManiFiesta festival in Ostend, BelgiumDirectly involved

    Before this statement

Days before the September 12 event, Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken had suggested that Belgium's new law against glorifying terrorism could be applied to the festival and its guests, naming Piker. Moderator Line De Witte noted that critics call Piker antisemitic and asked him to explain to the audience why that is wrong. In his answer Piker said he opposes bigotry including antisemitism, called Francken a bigot, and said that forcibly merging Zionism and Judaism "foments and creates more anti-Semitism and makes Jews less safe."

"This is something that even Zionists themselves at times acknowledge, including people who have, in the United States of America, attacked me for saying exactly those words in the past. They themselves have repeated it."
    Challenged the characterization

Responding to: Piker’s wording encouraged or justified violence against American Jews.

    Full statement and sources

Asked by moderator Line De Witte, during an onstage conversation with Belgian Workers' Party leader Peter Mertens at the ManiFiesta festival, why it is wrong to call him antisemitic, Piker said that conflating Zionism and Judaism makes Jews less safe, and that some of the people who attacked him in the United States for saying this had since repeated the same point.

    After the statement

He cited Dana Bash telling Benjamin Netanyahu that his actions had made Jews less safe, called that "an established fact," and said it was "distasteful and also dangerous" when people conflate the two concepts. The conversation took place two days after Larry Klayman filed his lawsuit; this passage concerns the antisemitism charge, not the suit.

Hasan Piker in conversation with Peter Mertens at ManiFiesta 2026Approximately 16:50 to 19:12 (chapter "Hasan Piker answers the antisemitism accusation")

    Why this label?

The reference point is Piker's August 20 remarks about American Jews and Israel and whether they warned about antisemitic danger or implied a threat. Piker restates the warning reading and disputes the critics' interpretation, so we labeled it Challenged the characterization, as with his earlier responses in this case. Defended or excused is the closest alternative, but he does not argue that any conduct under scrutiny was justified; he rejects the antisemitism charge and restates what he says he meant. Evidence level: the published video of the conversation, checked by ear and against captions; the event details come from the video's description.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  5. Larry KlaymanPlaintiff in the referenced civil lawsuit and author of the Freedom Watch post

    Before this statement

The signed post marks the 25th anniversary of September 11 and states Klayman’s view that the country remains at war with Islamic terror.

"He is effectively a terrorist who has said that “America deserved 9/11”, and I am suing him for his calls to violence against Jews and Christians who support the State of Israel."
    Condemned

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

In a September 11 post, Larry Klayman condemned Hasan Piker and repeated allegations underlying Klayman’s civil lawsuit. The post is a statement of Klayman’s position and does not establish the allegations as fact.

    After the statement

Klayman goes on to accuse other named public figures and says he is pursuing Piker himself; the page links to the September 10 complaint and press release.

    Why this label?

Klayman uses directly condemnatory language about Piker and frames the lawsuit as a response to alleged calls to violence. The classification describes Klayman’s stated position, while the allegations remain attributed.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  6. Larry KlaymanCivil plaintiff and legal activist speaking personally in a published announcement

    Before this statement

On September 10, 2026, Larry Klayman announced a personal civil lawsuit against Hasan Piker in Palm Beach County, Florida. The complaint quotes Piker’s August 20 remarks about American Jews and Israel and alleges reckless endangerment, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Klayman was speaking as the plaintiff when he made the quoted accusation.

"Piker yelled fire at Jews and Christians who support Israel."
    Condemned

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

Larry Klayman condemned Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks as he announced a Palm Beach County civil lawsuit seeking more than $150 million and an injunction. The complaint’s allegations and requested remedies are not judicial findings.

    After the statement

Klayman sought more than $150 million in damages and an injunction; these are requested remedies, not an award or judicial finding. The civil action is separate from the privately promoted Citizens’ Grand Jury described in his release. Piker’s earlier explanation that he was warning about antisemitic danger predates this filing. The linked case record includes the original remarks, those earlier responses, competing interpretations and the lawsuit timeline.

"inviting him onto our campus has a real impact on how safe and supported our community feels."
    Condemned

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

Ella Trubek criticizes the decision to host Piker at UT Austin, explicitly citing his remarks about American Jews alongside other rhetoric and describing an adverse effect on Jewish students' sense of safety and support.

    After the statement

She distinguishes discomfort in political debate from feeling targeted and says she asked the university president to reconsider the event. This record does not establish a cancellation or attribute all other interviewees' comments to this particular controversy.

    Why this label?

She explicitly objects to the cited rhetoric and its campus impact. This is a criticism linked to the American-Jews remarks, not an inferred position from her identity or a general campus invitation alone.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  2. Larry KlaymanFounder, Freedom Watch USA

    Before this statement

Freedom Watch USA convened a privately organized 'Citizens' Grand Jury' in Charleston, South Carolina, on September 5, 2026.

"inciting and causing violence against Jews & Christians"
    Condemned

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

Larry Klayman's organization Freedom Watch USA announced that a privately convened, non-governmental 'Citizens' Grand Jury' returned a 'True Bill of Indictment' against six people, including Piker, alleging incitement of violence against Jews and Christians and specifically citing his August 20 remarks.

    After the statement

This is a private, non-governmental proceeding with no legal authority to indict anyone; it is separate from Klayman's $150M+ civil lawsuit already documented in this case.

    Why this label?

Klayman's organization escalates its condemnation of Piker's August 20 remarks via a privately convened, non-governmental 'grand jury' proceeding that has no legal authority to indict anyone -- a further public escalation of Klayman's existing civil case, not a real criminal indictment.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  3. Astead HerndonJournalist and host of America, Actually, appearing as a guest on The Majority Report.

    Before this statement

The September 4 discussion concerned criticism of Hasan Piker and its implications for Democratic politics. Herndon had already said Piker was more incendiary than several progressive figures and that he was not defending everything Piker had said.

"what I think was a thing taken out of context"
    Challenged the characterization

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

In a Majority Report discussion of the Democratic response to Piker, Herndon characterized Sen. Jon Ossoff’s statement as responding to something he believed had been taken out of context. He also said candidates should be cautious about responding to every short X news cycle.

    After the statement

Herndon said he was concerned about candidates responding to every short X news cycle. Sam Seder then discussed Piker’s separate 2019 “America deserved 9/11” remark; that later exchange is outside this Case 1 entry.

    Why this label?

Herndon does not defend all of Piker’s statements: earlier in the same discussion, he said Piker was more incendiary than several progressive figures and said he was not defending everything Piker had said. This selected response expressly challenges the framing of the August 20 passage, so challenges the characterization fits more closely than defends or excuses.

    Before this statement

During a direct interview focused on reactions to him, a host said Ossoff had issued a prepared statement because distancing himself could be politically beneficial.

"But yeah, this was a mistake for my, for my estimation, but it was one that he was forced into because AJC and numerous other outlets were constantly pressing him."
    Challenged the characterization

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

Piker described Ossoff’s response to criticism of Piker as a mistake and attributed it to pressure from outside outlets and organizations.

    After the statement

Piker said reporters had pressed Ossoff to disavow him; claims about the source of any pressure are Piker’s account.

    Why this label?

Piker offers an asserted explanation for why Ossoff issued the response rather than engaging the alleged merits of the criticism. Within this dispute, it challenges the treatment and context of the response rather than defending violence.

Responding to: Piker’s passage was antisemitic.

    Full statement and sources

Richard Painter, a law professor and former White House ethics lawyer, wrote that Piker had moved from criticizing the Israeli government to attacking American Jews who support Israel's right to exist, called him a bigot and said politicians who associate with him should be voted down.

At 00:04:48–00:05:41, other panelists said Republicans would benefit from focusing on Piker and named people they said shared the broader sentiment. The statement is Stoll’s editorial assessment, not evidence about Democratic intentions.

  23. Ro KhannaU.S. representative from California

    Before this statement

The Independent reported that just under a dozen of the party's elected officials in Washington had condemned Piker in the past week over comments he made on stream, including about the backlash against Jewish supporters of Israel, and that some Democrats were beginning to say publicly that party leaders were falling into a Republican trap. Fox News reported that on Monday Khanna rejected Piker's argument, saying antisemitism should be condemned unequivocally and that Jewish people and supporters of Israel are not responsible for antisemitism directed at them. The Washington Examiner reported that Khanna had not commented publicly on Piker's most recent controversy.

"Too many demotivated Democrats stayed home in 2016 and 2024. We can’t repeat past mistakes. In this upcoming election, we need to: Quit calling @BernieSanders an “antisemite.” Stop wasting time attacking Hasan Piker instead of Trump’s robber baron corruption."

    After the statement

The Washington Examiner reported that the same post went on to say, "Don't put Israel hawks out of touch with our voters in charge of our Middle East policy." The Independent reported that Rep. Debbie Dingell, campaigning with Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan the same day, said, "Don't any reporter ask me again about Hasan Piker."

    Why this label?

The case asks how people responded to Piker's August 20 remarks about American Jews and Israel, including whether they read them as a warning or as an implicit threat. Khanna's post does not describe or evaluate the remarks themselves. It says Democrats should stop wasting time attacking Piker instead of what Khanna called Trump's robber baron corruption, which downplays the importance of the controversy, so we labeled it Minimized.

Nessel directly describes Piker as “very anti-Semitic” and calls the remarks about a Jewish elected official “really hateful words.”

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  25. Debbie DingellUnited States representative from Michigan

    Before this statement

Dingell spoke while campaigning for El-Sayed as questions about Piker's livestream comments continued. Just before the quoted sentence she said, "I am done. So don't any reporter ask me again about Hasan Piker. It's not what November is about."

    Why this label?

Dingell directly tells reporters not to ask again and redirects to the election. General disagreement with Piker on unspecified matters is not a substantive mixed position on this passage.

  26. Ben ShapiroHost, The Ben Shapiro Show; columnist

    Full statement and sources

Pool agreed with a narrower warning about conflating Jewish identity with Israel but said Piker and his audience conveyed something different.

    After the statement

He distinguished that argument from what he believed Piker and his followers were communicating.

    Why this label?

Pool agrees with a hypothetical protective warning but expressly says that is not what Piker was doing; he interprets Piker's actual speech as a threat. Agreement with a different hypothetical statement is not material support for the disputed conduct.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

    Full statement and sources

Uygur interpreted Piker’s passage as a warning intended to protect Jewish Americans, not as encouragement of violence.

    After the statement

He continued distinguishing criticism of Israel and Zionism from hostility toward Jewish people.

    Why this label?

He directly supplies a protective rather than threatening interpretation of the remarks.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  40. Glenn GreenwaldJournalist and host

    Before this statement

Greenwald compared the reaction to Piker with attention directed at electoral candidates and issues.

"they seem to be reserving their greatest venom and the bulk of their energy attacking Hasan Piker, who isn’t on the ballot"
    Minimized

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

Greenwald criticized the volume and political priority of attacks on Piker, emphasizing that Piker was not a candidate.

    After the statement

His criticism is aimed at the allocation of political attention rather than a line-by-line interpretation of the passage.

    Why this label?

The statement minimizes the controversy’s electoral relevance without clearly endorsing Piker’s exact wording.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  41. Amy SpitalnickChief executive of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, posting on her X account

    Before this statement

The post, published August 24 as national Democrats and Jewish organizations began criticizing the livestream remarks, opened: "There are multiple levels of cynical antisemitism embedded in Piker's recent comments."

"Blaming Jews for the actions of the Israeli government. And then blaming Jews for antisemitic violence that targets them under the guise of protesting Israel. All of it is dangerous & wrong."
    Condemned

Responding to: Piker’s wording assigned American Jews responsibility for antisemitic violence directed at them.

    Full statement and sources

Amy Spitalnick, chief executive of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, wrote that Piker's remarks blamed Jews for the Israeli government's actions and for antisemitic violence aimed at them, and called the remarks dangerous and wrong.

    After the statement

The quoted points were the whole of the post.

Amy Spitalnick post on Hasan Piker's August 20 remarks · Amy SpitalnickOriginal post body

    Why this label?

The reference point is Piker's August 20 remarks about American Jews and Israel, which critics read as an implicit threat and Piker described as a warning. Spitalnick calls them antisemitic, says they blame Jews for violence directed at them, and ends "All of it is dangerous & wrong," so we labeled it Condemned. Challenged the characterization loses because she does not dispute how others described the remarks; she gives her own critical reading. Evidence level: her own post.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  42. Hasan PikerPolitical livestreamerDirectly involved

    Before this statement

Piker quote-posted Hakeem Jeffries’s statement that the claim American Jews were inviting violence was dangerous and antisemitic.

"do not let a coordinated republican smear campaign become “reality.” my argument against the dangerous false conflation between zionism and judaism which in turn increases antisemitism is now turned on it’s head. zionism is not judaism. antizionism is not antisemitism."
    Challenged the characterization

Responding to: Piker’s wording encouraged or justified violence against American Jews.

    Full statement and sources

Piker characterized the interpretation of his August 20 remarks as a smear and said his argument concerned what he called a false conflation between Zionism and Judaism.

    After the statement

He asserted that Zionism and Judaism are distinct and that anti-Zionism is not antisemitism.

    Why this label?

In a reply to Jeffries’s characterization, Piker describes it as a coordinated smear and says his argument has been inverted. It disputes the interpretation rather than independently defending or condemning violence.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  43. Hillary ScholtenU.S. representative for Michigan's Third Congressional District, issuing an official statement

    Before this statement

Scholten's official House release responds to Piker's discussion of American Jews who support Israel and his on-screen reference to Michigan politician Jeremy Moss.

"It's dangerous for everyone. […] It has no place in Michigan, and no place in our country."
    Condemned

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

Hillary Scholten condemns Piker's remarks about American Jews and his naming of Jeremy Moss, calling the rhetoric dangerous and urging others to challenge it.

    After the statement

The bracketed ellipsis omits a sentence urging others to condemn the rhetoric; the retained words are verbatim. Scholten's characterization of Piker's intent remains her position, not our determination. This is older material newly added to the record, not a September 10 response.

Hillary Scholten's official statement condemning Piker's remarks about American JewsSole quoted statement following the release's introductory paragraph.

    Why this label?

The official release explicitly rejects the specific remarks, characterizes them as dangerous and calls for public condemnation.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  44. Jonathan GreenblattCEO of the Anti-Defamation League

    Before this statement

The New York Post reported that Piker said during his August 20 stream, "if Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they're singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone will come around and take action not against Israel, mind you, but against American Jews." It reported that Rep. Hillary Scholten and the American Jewish Committee also criticized Piker, and that Greenblatt weighed in as well, questioning whether elected officials who associate with Piker really watch his streams or "just see his reach and ignore the rampant antisemitism."

"The Jewsplaining is extraordinary: Piker appoints himself an authority on antisemitism, lecturing Jews about what is and isn’t antisemitic while blaming the Jewish community for the hatred directed against it"
    Condemned

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said Hasan Piker had appointed himself an authority on antisemitism, lecturing Jews about what is and is not antisemitic while blaming the Jewish community for the hatred directed against it.

    After the statement

Fox News Digital reported that it had asked Piker and Michigan state Sen. Jeremy Moss for comment and had not immediately received a response.

Hasan Piker shredded over vile suggestion that Jews were responsible for antisemitic attacks against them: 'Hack who thrives in hate'Paragraphs on the American Jewish Committee, beginning "The American Jewish Committee (AJC) also said on Monday"
Democrat rips Hasan Piker as 'hack who thrives on hate' over his warning to American Jews about IsraelParagraphs on the American Jewish Committee, beginning "The American Jewish Committee (AJC) also said on Monday"

    Why this label?

The case asks how people responded to Piker's August 20 remarks about American Jews and Israel, including whether they read them as a warning or as an implicit threat. Greenblatt criticized Piker for lecturing Jews about what is and is not antisemitic while blaming the Jewish community for the hatred directed against it. That criticizes the remarks directly, so we labeled it Condemned.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  45. American Jewish CommitteeJewish advocacy organization, statement posted on its X account

    Before this statement

The New York Post reported that AJC also said on Monday that by using an image of Michigan state Sen. Jeremy Moss during his stream, "Piker put a target on the backs of Sen. Moss, Jewish candidates and officeholders, and American Jews alike."

"Blaming Jews for the antisemitism directed at them is itself antisemitism Every public official who has shared his platform now has a choice: denounce this and walk away, or be complicit. There is no third option."
    Condemned

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

The American Jewish Committee wrote on X that blaming Jews for the antisemitism directed at them is itself antisemitism. It said every public official who has shared Piker's platform has a choice between denouncing this and walking away, or being complicit.

    After the statement

The same report quotes a statement from the Jewish Federation of Detroit and remarks from Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt, who also criticized Piker's remarks.

AJC said that blaming Jews for the antisemitism directed at them is itself antisemitism and that public officials who have shared Piker's platform must choose between denouncing this and walking away, or being complicit. That rejects the remarks directly, so we labeled it Condemned.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  46. Jeremy MossMichigan state senator

    Before this statement

The statement responded to reporting on Piker's August 20 livestream passage about American Jews, Israel, and antisemitic violence.

"I will not be lectured by a California podcaster about what Oakland County, Michigan's Jewish community should and shouldn't believe."
    Condemned

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

Moss rejected Piker's commentary about his community and said Jewish residents should not be blamed for antisemitic harm directed at them.

    After the statement

Moss also said Jewish people should not be gaslit into accepting responsibility for antisemitic harm.

Jeremy Moss statement on X, August 24, 2026Statement image attached to the X post, third paragraph; posted August 24, 2026 at 21:19 UTC

    Why this label?

Moss rejects Piker's framing and describes it as blaming Jewish people for antisemitic harm.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  47. Abdul El-SayedU.S. Senate candidate and former Wayne County health director

    Before this statement

The statement followed criticism of Piker, who had campaigned with El-Sayed before the livestream passage.

"Antisemitism is a scourge, and we need to address it in all its forms."
    Condemned

Case context: Hasan Piker’s August 20 remarks and Larry Klayman’s lawsuit

    Full statement and sources

El-Sayed said antisemitism must be addressed and distanced his campaign from rhetoric he said put the Jewish community at risk.

    After the statement

El-Sayed said that no one speaks for his campaign except him and his campaign spokespeople.

    Why this label?

El-Sayed condemns antisemitism and rejects rhetoric that endangers the Jewish community.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  48. Hakeem JeffriesHouse Democratic leader and U.S. representative

    Before this statement

The statement responds directly to reporting about Piker’s August 20 livestream passage.

"The malicious claim that American Jews are inviting violence against themselves is dangerous and antisemitic."
    Condemned

Responding to: Piker’s wording assigned American Jews responsibility for antisemitic violence directed at them.

    Full statement and sources

Jeffries condemned the passage as dangerous and antisemitic, interpreting it as blaming American Jews for violence against them.

    After the statement

The cited post does not adopt Piker’s distinction between warning about danger and assigning blame.

    Why this label?

The statement explicitly labels the disputed claim dangerous and antisemitic.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

  49. Hasan PikerPolitical livestreamerDirectly involved

    Before this statement

In a verified X quote-post of Mike Rogers’s claim that Piker said American Jews would be violently targeted, Piker replied directly to that characterization.

"falsely tying israel to jewish people IS increasing antisemitism. this isn’t a call for violence- what your favorite nazi agitator jake lang does daily is putting jews and muslim michiganders in actual danger."
    Challenged the characterization

Responding to: Piker’s wording encouraged or justified violence against American Jews.

    Full statement and sources

Piker rejected Rogers’s characterization of the August 20 remarks as a call for violence and said the relevant argument concerned conflation of Israel and Jewish people.

    After the statement

He said falsely tying Israel to Jewish people increases antisemitism and contrasted it with conduct he described as creating danger for Jewish and Muslim Michigan residents.

    Why this label?

Piker expressly says “this isn’t a call for violence” while disputing the portrayal of his remarks. He does not endorse violence or offer an independent assessment of the disputed passage’s effects.

This label describes the statement's response within the context above.

"It's not only a false conflation, but it's also a dangerous conflation, because it ends up forcibly merging these two different concepts together, Zionism and Judaism. … This is something that even Zionists themselves at times acknowledge, including people who have, in the United States of America, attacked me for saying exactly those words in the past. They themselves have repeated it."

The Real Reason Centrist Dems Are Panicking About 2028

Excerpt

"when I saw Ossoff release that statement about Piker ... responding to what I think was a thing taken out of context"

About this source

Official Majority Report video. YouTube lists an upload date of September 11, 2026; the description says the conversation was live-streamed September 4. At 00:17:49–00:18:04, Astead Herndon describes Jon Ossoff’s statement about Piker as responding to something he thinks was taken out of context. JTA independently ties Ossoff’s statement to Piker’s August 20 remarks about American Jews, Israel, and antisemitic violence. The linked timestamp 00:29:11 concerns Flock cameras and data centers, not Piker.

About this source

Complete plaintiff-authored release identifying case 50-2026-CA-010209-XXXA-MB in the Circuit Court for Palm Beach County, Florida. Klayman announces a personal suit, condemns the August 20 passage and requests more than $150 million in damages. His characterization of the speech is disputed and not adopted as a finding. The release distinguishes the civil action from a separately promoted private Citizens' Grand Jury; the latter is not an official criminal indictment.

About this source

Court-stamped complaint copy hosted by the plaintiff's organization. Filing number 256756260 is stamped September 10, 2026 at 10:52:21 AM without a timezone printed in the extracted stamp. The case number is provided in the accompanying release. The pleading quotes the August 20 livestream and alleges threats and incitement, seeking damages and an injunction. These are the plaintiff's allegations and requested remedies, not judicial findings. The PDF's font produces some garbled duplicate extraction; the filing stamp, selected substantive paragraphs and relief text remain readable.

Corrected language
Ossoff said through a spokesperson that he "unreservedly rejects reckless and dangerous rhetoric suggesting that policy advocacy invites violence against the Jewish community or any community."

We quoted this statement in the first person, as if Ossoff had spoken the words himself. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Forbes both report it in the third person, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says he gave it through a spokesperson. We changed the quotation to the reported wording and now say it came through a spokesperson.
