Mike Dunleavy is a Republican politician, educator and governor of Alaska. He moved to Alaska in 1983 and worked in a logging camp before spending nearly two decades as a teacher, principal and superintendent in the Northwest Arctic. Dunleavy earned a master's degree in education from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. After moving to Wasilla in 2004, he started an education consulting business and served on the Matanuska-Susitna Borough school board. He later served five years in the Alaska Senate before his election as governor in 2018.
Dunleavy declines to promise that he would send a certificate to the Senate if Peltola wins while the investigation remains unresolved. He says findings of illegal conduct could affect seating, while acknowledging that he does not yet know whether Peltola committed a crime.
“may, in fact, impact whether somebody is seated in the U.S. Senate.”
