Mixed or conditional

Statement summary

Candace Owens responded to Massie's impeachment articles by arguing Hegseth "doesn't control or make any decisions," attributing real authority to Deputy Secretary Steve Feinberg, without taking a direct position on whether Hegseth should be impeached.

“Pete Hegseth doesn't control or make any decisions. It's the deputy secretary, billionaire Steve Feinberg that runs everything. Pete does as he is told, just like Trump.”

Why we used this label

Owens neither defends nor condemns the impeachment push directly; she minimizes Hegseth's personal culpability by framing him as a powerless figurehead while implicitly criticizing Deputy Secretary Steve Feinberg and Trump as the real decision-makers -- a genuinely mixed position that redirects rather than resolves the impeachment question.

Mixed or conditional

Response to this claim

Kyle Seraphin said on his podcast on August 22, 2025 that FBI Director Kash Patel "has had his own little 'honeypot' issue" and that Patel's girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins, is "a former Mossad agent in what is like the equivalent of their NSA," according to the transcript quoted in Wilkins's complaint and in the court's order denying his motion to dismiss.

“The background is that Alexis Wilkins, (Kash Patel’s girlfriend) does not understand why some people think she’s a Mossad honey pot.”

Why we used this label

The reference point is the proposition that Alexis Wilkins is, or was, a foreign intelligence agent, specifically an Israeli or Mossad "honeypot" in a relationship with Kash Patel to compromise him. Owens describes Wilkins as puzzled about why "some people" call her a Mossad honey pot, phrasing that hints the reasons are evident, but she attributes the view to others and does not state it herself, so we used Mixed or conditional. The closest competing label is Condemned. It loses because we found no statement in which Owens asserts the proposition. Her separate reply calling the thread "completely and utterly false" concerns its influence-network claims, not the honeypot claim. Evidence level: her own post on X.

Condemned

Statement summary

Candace Owens said on her show that Israeli outlets were verifying that the IDF invoked the Hannibal Protocol on October 7 and that it was becoming undeniable that Israel killed some of its own people.

“And so it is becoming clear or undeniable that Israel killed some of its own.”

Why we used this label

The reference point is Israeli fire on October 7, 2023, under or in the manner of the Hannibal Directive, that put Israeli captives at risk of being killed by Israeli forces. Owens asserts that Israel killed some of its own people under the protocol, which condemns the conduct. The closest competing label is Mixed or conditional, but she states the conclusion without qualification.
