Overview
This case concerns Crockett's decision to focus her general-election campaign work on down-ballot Democrats rather than appear with Talarico after he won their Senate primary. Her endorsement of Talarico is established and is not the question in dispute.
In separate interviews published March 3, Crockett and Talarico each said they would campaign for the other if that person won. After Talarico's victory, Crockett urged Democrats to back the nominees. In June, spokespersons for both campaigns confirmed she had endorsed him. Talarico said in July that Crockett's down-ballot work was important and that she was welcome to join him on the trail.
Asked directly on August 27 whether she would campaign with Talarico, Crockett said she would campaign down-ballot. She described her commitments to other candidates and said that for her, the choice probably was either-or. Three days later, Khanna said he hoped she would campaign for Talarico and argued that Democrats should unite around Senate nominees. The competing positions concern where Crockett should put her campaign time, not whether she supports the Democratic ticket.
