Jason Campbell is a media researcher and writer at Media Matters for America. He writes the organization's weekly newsletter and covers political commentary in conservative media.
Case
Laura Loomer called for military raids on mosques and mass deportation of Muslims. Mehdi Hasan criticized the remarks; Loomer stood by them and urged Republicans to listen. Should Republican leaders condemn her proposal?
Role at the time: Media Matters researcher and newsletter author
Response to this claim
The United States should use military force to raid mosques and remove Muslims from the country rather than have Americans relocate.
“Attacks on Islam and bigotry against Muslims have been an ongoing campaign in right-wing media.”
Campbell's critical framing applies directly to the military-force proposal he cites. It condemns that proposal rather than merely reporting Loomer's words.
