Statement summary
Sisters Lead Sisters Vote president Holli Holliday said an attack on Black women leaders is an attack on democracy, and that racist and misogynistic rhetoric aimed at silencing them will fail.
“An attack on Black women leaders is an attack on democracy itself. Black women are the most reliable defenders of this democracy — we organize, we vote, we lead. Racist and misogynistic rhetoric aimed at silencing us will fail, because our power was never granted to us by those who now try to take it away.”

Why we used this label
The case's reference point is Laura Loomer's remarks about Angie Nixon and other Black women in politics. Holliday calls the racist and misogynistic rhetoric an attack on democracy that will fail, so we labeled it Condemned.
Laura Loomer used “ghetto” and a gendered slur for Angie Nixon and four other Black women, then defended the wording as describing Nixon’s conduct, race, and ideology. Critics across parties called the remarks racist, sexist, degrading, offensive, or vile.
