Hunter Biden says bring it on, offers to testify alongside Trump Jr.

Hunter BidenAmerican lawyer, artist, and son of former President Joe Biden, in a post on X

Responding to Sen. Curtis letter asking the Judiciary Committee to subpoena both Donald Trump Jr. and himself, Hunter Biden said on X that he welcomed scrutiny, cited his prior sworn testimony, denied having foreign business dealings while his father was president, and offered to testify alongside Trump Jr. without a subpoena.

“I say bring it on. Ive already given more than seven hours of sworn testimony. More than three dozen witnesses testified across two chambers. I had no foreign business dealings while my father was president. None. I painted paintings, and I still do. Ill sit next to Don Jr. and testify any time, any place.”

Where this statement fits

Should the Senate Judiciary Committee Subpoena Donald Trump Jr. Over His Kremlev-Funded Wedding Celebration?

Russian businessman Umar Kremlev, president of the International Boxing Association and a Putin ally sanctioned by Ukraine, helped fund a private-island celebration for Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Trump's May 2026 wedding, including a fireworks show, ProPublica reported in September 2026. Bettina Trump acknowledged the arrangement on Instagram, calling Kremlev a "dear friend." The same day, President Trump told NBC News he had "no idea who Umar is, never heard of him," and called it "not a big deal." Four days later, in the Oval Office, Trump instead defended the arrangement as "totally allowed" and said he understood Kremlev had been repaid. On September 21, Sen. John Curtis (R-Utah) wrote the Senate Judiciary Committee asking it to subpoena both Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden, arguing the episode and Hunter Biden's past foreign business dealings both raise questions about "the use of presidential family relationships for private financial benefit." The Judiciary Committee had not committed to acting as of this writing.

About this source

The Hill reports Hunter Bidens September 22 X post responding to Sen. John Curtis letter asking the Judiciary Committee to subpoena both Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden. Used to attribute Hunter Bidens own reaction, not to establish the underlying allegations about Trump Jr. or Kremlev.

Before the quotation

Sen. John Curtis (R-Utah) had written the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 21 asking it to subpoena both Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden, arguing that the Kremlev-funded wedding celebration and Hunter Biden past foreign business dealings both raised questions about the use of presidential family relationships for private financial benefit.

After the quotation

The Hill reported no immediate response from Donald Trump Jr. or his representatives to Hunter Biden offer to testify alongside him; the Judiciary Committee had not committed to acting on either subpoena request as of this writing.

How this statement is classified

Challenged the characterization

The label describes this statement's response within the context above.

Why this label?

Relative to whether the Judiciary Committee should subpoena Donald Trump Jr., Hunter Biden does not evaluate Trump Jr.'s conduct at all; his statement is almost entirely a defense of his own record and a welcome of scrutiny of himself. This is a borderline call. The one line that touches the case reference point is his offer to sit next to Don Jr. and testify any time, any place, which implicitly disputes the premise that compulsory process (a subpoena) is necessary at all, since he offers voluntary joint testimony instead. On that narrow basis the position is "Challenged the characterization": he disputes that a subpoena, rather than voluntary cooperation, is the warranted response to the family-financial-benefit theory in the Curtis letter, which named him alongside Trump Jr. It is not "Defended or excused" because he never argues Trump Jr.'s conduct was proper, and not "Condemned" because he never criticizes Trump Jr. either.
