Overview

NYC-DSA's October 9 post (opens in a new tab) demanded that Tisch get ICE out of New York and end police complicity. Its call for dismissal was conditional on her inability to stop the conduct it described. Chevalier's post (opens in a new tab) made an unconditional call for Tisch to step down. Chevalier said officers shoved her and escalated violence, and criticized Tisch for citing the shooting victim's police history. These are Chevalier's account and assessment.

Pekec told Gothamist (opens in a new tab) that City Hall planned to retain Tisch while the mayor and NYPD reviewed the previous day's events. NYPD disputed Chevalier's assertion that the Strategic Response Group had responded. This personnel dispute is distinct from the case on whether ICE was justified in the shooting (opens in a new tab).
