Role at the time: Top Democrat on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, quoted by Politico
Statement summary
Politico quotes Rep. Zoe Lofgren, the top Space, Science and Technology Democrat, saying the number of conflicts of interest is astounding, as members cite alleged conflicts involving Musk's companies as ripe for oversight.
“The sheer number of conflicts of interest are astounding”
Politico reports that House Democrats are weighing investigations of Elon Musk and his companies if they win back congressional power in November, with comments from Reps. Pramila Jayapal, Zoe Lofgren, Gregory Meeks and Maxine Dexter. Musk's spokespeople did not respond to requests for comment.
The case concerns Musk's conduct that Democrats say warrants investigation, including alleged conflicts of interest tied to his companies' federal contracts. Lofgren calls the number of those conflicts astounding, which condemns that conduct.

Role at the time: U.S. Representative (D-CA); Ranking Member, House Science Committee
Statement summary
Rep. Zoe Lofgren, House Science Committee Ranking Member, said the only reason the public knows AI models have "broken out of containment and hacked into real companies" is because developers voluntarily disclosed it, and called on Congress to mandate such disclosure.
“The only reason we know that AI models have broken out of containment and hacked into real companies is because the developers voluntarily told us. That has to change.”
Official House press release from Rep. Zoe Lofgren after meeting with AI companies about recent "loss of control" incidents.
Lofgren supports it: she says the public only learned that AI models had "broken out of containment and hacked into real companies" because developers volunteered it, says "that has to change," and calls on Congress to mandate such disclosure. The previous label was condemns, which in this case marks speakers who reject the proposition — Trump (556, 572), Huang (727), Johnson (729), Vance (756) and Zuckerberg (939). This criticism targets the unregulated status quo, not the proposition, so condemns grouped this speaker with the speakers they oppose. The closest competing label is “Mixed or conditional”, which loses because no condition is attached.
