Role at the time: Editor-in-chief of MeidasTouch News and former prosecutor, replying on X
Statement summary
Replying directly to Hegseth's cadet post on X, Ron Filipkowski called the defense secretary "a vile, insecure scumbag and a disgrace to the US military."
“Just a vile, insecure scumbag and a disgrace to the US military.”
Filipkowski's own reply on X to Pete Hegseth's September 1, 2026 post of an image from the Vernon Cadet Training Centre.
The case asks whether Hegseth's "this is real" post mocked Canadian cadets, and the reference point is the post itself. Filipkowski answered the post with a direct personal attack on Hegseth for making it, calling him vile and a disgrace to the military. That is a clear rejection of the conduct, so Condemned fits. Challenged the characterization does not fit, because he does not dispute any description of the post; he criticizes the act of posting it. Evidence level: the speaker's own reply on X, read in full.

Role at the time: Editor-in-chief of MeidasTouch News, posting on his own Bluesky account
Statement summary
Ron Filipkowski, editor-in-chief of MeidasTouch News, wrote on Bluesky that Trump "did an incredible job negotiating for things we already had in Greenland," in a post made nearly four hours after Trump announced on Truth Social an agreement with Denmark and Greenland.
“Trump did an incredible job negotiating for things we already had in Greenland.”
The speaker's own post. It is a standalone one-sentence text post with no quoted post, link or image. It does not name the agreement, so its link to the 2026-09-18 announcement rests on timing (3 hours 52 minutes after Trump's Truth Social post), on its wording, and on its being the only Greenland post among his 94 most recent posts (2026-09-16 to 2026-09-19 02:16 UTC); replies and quote-posts by other users read it as about the agreement. The same sentence appears on his Threads account (@ronaldfilipkowski). The publication date shown is the US Eastern date; the UTC date is 2026-09-19.
Filipkowski's own words say the negotiation was "for things we already had in Greenland", which disputes that description by treating the agreement as restating what the U.S. already held; "an incredible job" is sarcastic and is not praise of the agreement. The closest competing label is minimizes, because "already had" also downplays how much the agreement adds. That loses because he disputes what the agreement adds rather than conceding a concern and shrinking it, and he does not criticize the agreement itself.
