Navi Pillay is a South African lawyer and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. She served as a judge and president of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and as a judge of the International Criminal Court. Her legal career began in South Africa, where she represented opponents of apartheid.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee praised Navi Pillay's work for international justice. UN Watch condemned the award, alleging that her record on Israel and antisemitism disqualified her.
