Statement summary
Squires-Hand argues that if asset buyers deserve information about AI use, game buyers do too. He says disclosure lets customers decide rather than requiring them to boycott.
“So why shouldn't we lowly consumers get that same choice?”
The writer supports disclosure and challenges Sweeney's distinction between consumers and business customers.
The reference point is Steam's AI disclosure labels, the policy Sweeney criticizes. On this case, statements supporting the labels are marked as defending them and statements rejecting them as condemning them. Squires-Hand argues that game buyers deserve the same choice Sweeney accepts for asset buyers, which supports the labels.
