Condemned

Statement summary

Porter's father told KPRC 2 in Houston that witnesses said three shots were fired as his son turned his head after being told to drop his weapon. He said he wants the agent brought to trial and jailed, saying the agent murdered his son.

“I definitely want justice. I want to see that guy brought to trial. He needs to go to jail for that. I mean, he just murdered him”

Why we used this label

Reference point: whether the off-duty ICE agent was justified in fatally shooting Porter. Porter Sr. calls the killing murder and says the agent should be tried and jailed, which expressly rejects the shooting, so we used Condemned. We did not use Denied because his central point is a judgment of the agent's conduct; his account of what witnesses told the family is context for that judgment. Evidence: a reputable television report quoting him directly.
