Why we used this label

Relative to DHS's decision to have its own component lead the investigation into the shooting, Crockett directly denounces ICE as a "rogue agency" showing "no regard for human life" and rejects an ICE-led inquiry by demanding an independent one. Closest competing label: “Challenged the characterization” loses because she condemns ICE's conduct broadly, not merely a description of this incident.

Response to this claim

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform said in House Report 119-831 that Leon Black willfully failed to comply with its June 26, 2026 deposition subpoena and document subpoena, and that his stated reasons for not complying are without merit.

“Leon Black didn’t show up for his Oversight deposition today — defying another congressional subpoena. ... Nobody is above the law. ... We’ve had enough with the games. Oversight Democrats are demanding he be held in contempt.”
