Statement summary
Boy George dismissed Macklemore’s address to “my Jewish brothers and sisters” as insincere, citing an allegation about a past costume and salute, and told him to “own your hate.”
“It’s like people saying @macklmoore said ‘my Jewish brothers and sisters’ after dressing as caricature of a Jew and doing a nazi salute? Too late! Own your hate!”
Posted the evening of September 18, 2026. The line Boy George is dismissing is Macklemore’s MetLife Stadium statement of September 5, which opened “To all of my Jewish brothers and sisters” before saying criticism of Israel is not criticism of them. The allegation about a costume and a salute refers to material outside this dispute and is Boy George’s characterisation, not an established fact; it is reproduced here as part of his statement, not adopted.
On Macklemore’s conduct, Boy George condemns him, rejecting as insincere the disclaimer with which Macklemore framed his “Free Palestine” remarks and imputing hatred to him. This is his second recorded position on the case and is consistent in direction with his September 7 statement, while going further: the earlier one criticised the slogan as shallow, this one attacks Macklemore’s motives directly. “Challenged the characterization” does not fit, because he is not disputing how someone else described events but delivering his own verdict on the speaker.
Role at the time: Recording artist commenting publicly on another performer’s political speech
Response to this claim
An opening act should not use a headliner’s global concert platform to advance a one-sided political agenda without accountability and clear boundaries.
“Slogans such as “Free Palestine” offer the appearance of moral courage without requiring much political knowledge.”
Reporting that preserves Boy George’s direct criticism, Paloma Faith’s “My Hero” reshare, and the text P!nk amplified from StopAntisemitism.
The post makes a direct attributable criticism of the message and of the headliner’s response.
Role at the time: Recording artist challenging a distribution platform’s enforcement
Response to this claim
“We Will Dance Again” fell outside Bandcamp’s permitted catalog because its finished audio was generated wholly or substantially by AI.
“Leave the creative process to the artists. Even if you don’t agree with it.”
Reporting preserving Boy George’s enforcement criticism, refund request, open admission of AI use, and separate allegation of political pressure.
Archived copy (opens in a new tab)The statement directly rejects the platform’s intervention and demands that creative decisions remain with artists.

Role at the time: Songwriter and recording artist responding to a platform removal
Response to this claim
Boy George remained the song’s author because he wrote its lyrics and melody and used AI as a creative collaborator.
“I wrote that song. The lyrics are mine, the melody is mine.”
Reporting reproducing Boy George’s detailed authorship defense, description of AI as removing human interference, and political-motive allegation.
He accepts using AI but directly disputes the characterization that the resulting work was not authored by him.

Statement summary
Boy George revealed he has now re-recorded "We Will Dance Again" "organically" with longtime Culture Club collaborator Kevan Frost after "originally" releasing an AI version, while arguing that AI use is already pervasive and unremarkable in pop music.
“As much as people kind of feel like they're against AI, I mean, all pop music for the last 30 years is artificial intelligence. Every band uses computers on stage, even rock bands.”
Times of Israel report on Boy George's September 9, 2026 Vancouver synagogue performance, at which he discussed re-recording "We Will Dance Again" organically after the original AI version.
Boy George discloses he has now re-recorded the song 'organically' with a human co-writer, which concedes the original was AI-generated, while simultaneously defending AI's broader use in pop music as unremarkable.
