Tyler MacallisterRepublican candidate for U.S. House in Massachusetts's 9th district, in an emailed statement
Tyler Macallister, the Republican candidate for U.S. House in Massachusetts's 9th district, said in an email that he supports an effort to stop attacks on Americans by Iran and its proxies and to restore peace in the Middle East. He said he is not in favor of boots on the ground at this time and that a final judgment would be premature without understanding capabilities, ally support and the course of action.
“I support an effort to stop attacks on Americans by Iran and its’ proxies, restore peace in the Middle East and the restoration of prosperity to Iranian people. How we get there is the something that must be addressed. I am not in favor of boots on the ground at this time, but to make a final judgement without understanding capabilities, ally support and course of action would be premature.”

Not sure who you sent the previous two requests to, but I do not have any messages from your organization up until this morning. Iran has been an issue since 1979 when they took 52 American hostages for 444 days . Every president since the Iranian Hostage Crisis has said they would do something about Iran and its’ aggressions against the US, yet they did not. I support an effort to stop attacks on Americans by Iran and its’ proxies, restore peace in the Middle East and the restoration of prosperity to Iranian people. How we get there is the something that must be addressed. I am not in favor of boots on the ground at this time, but to make a final judgement without understanding capabilities, ally support and course of action would be premature. I have said this publicly. Have a great day! Tyler Macallister

About this source
Emailed reply from Tyler Macallister, the Republican candidate for U.S. House in Massachusetts's 9th district, to a Dispute Index question on whether he would vote for a war powers resolution on Iran. He supports stopping Iranian attacks on Americans, opposes ground troops for now and says a final judgment would be premature.
Before the quotation
Dispute Index sent requests to his campaign's shared address on September 27, October 5 and October 12 asking whether he would vote for a war powers resolution directing the removal of U.S. forces from hostilities against Iran. He replied from his own address, writing that he had not received the first two. His reply opens by recalling the 1979 hostage crisis and saying that every president since then promised to act on Iran's aggressions against the United States but did not.
After the quotation
He wrote that he has said this publicly. As of October 13, 2026, we did not find an earlier public statement from him on the Iran war.
How this statement is classified
The label describes this statement's response within the context above.
Why this label?
The case tracks support for continued U.S. military operations against Iran, which Congress has not formally authorized, including whether a candidate would vote for a war powers resolution to remove U.S. forces from hostilities. Macallister backs an effort to stop Iranian attacks on Americans but opposes ground troops for now and says a final judgment would be premature, so his support depends on conditions he has not resolved. We labeled it Mixed or conditional. He does not say how he would vote on a war powers resolution.

“Donald John Trump, and his appointed CEO of the Department of Defense … have both violated the War Powers Act for their own personal financial gains, starting wars without congressional approval, with no supervision and no accountability. Yes, but it's probably too late; the die has been cast”Read statement
Shimon Blau says he opposes the Iran war and supports the War Powers Resolution
“I oppose the war in Iran because military action without clear objectives or congressional authorization risks American lives, destabilizes the region, and could draw us into another prolonged conflict. I support the War Powers Resolution to reaffirm Congress’s constitutional authority over decisions to take our nation to war.”Read statement
Chris Harden calls the Iran war unconstitutional and says he would vote in Congress to end the hostilities
“The Constitution is clear: only Congress has the power to declare war. Congress never declared war on Iran. Yet American service members have been in harm's way for months, and taxpayers are footing a bill in the tens of billions. This war is unconstitutional. In Congress, I will vote to end the hostilities in Iran and restore the role the founders gave to the people's representatives. Our troops and their families deserve leaders who follow the Constitution, not ones who look the other way.”Read statement
