Fox News joins the other major networks' joint statement against the exclusion
Fox NewsNews network; joint statement co-issued with ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC, posted on Fox News Media's own press page and conveyed via TV pool chair Bryan Boughton's email to pool subscribers
After the White House removed CNN from its scheduled Monday TV pool assignment, Fox News's Washington bureau chief and TV pool chair Bryan Boughton told pool subscribers the pool would not cover pool-designated presidential events, with no replacement pool put in place. Fox News then joined ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC in a joint statement, posted on Fox News Media's own press page, saying no administration should restrict a news organization because it objects to its reporting.
“The public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government. No administration should restrict a news organization because it objects to its reporting.”

Where this statement fits
Should President Trump bar CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House over their coverage?
On Friday, September 18, 2026, President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that, "effective immediately, I am banning" CNN, MS NOW and Politico "from the White House as a result of their constant 'reporting' FAKE NEWS!" About an hour later, in the Oval Office, he said no particular story prompted the decision, that he does not want the outlets "in my office," and that "somebody has a right to keep them away" if outlets write false stories. The three outlets and press-freedom groups oppose the exclusion, citing constitutional protection for the press, and the White House Correspondents' Association said it "stands in defense of our colleagues at CNN, MSNOW, and POLITICO." On Saturday, September 19, MS NOW, CNN and Politico said their White House reporters were refused entry and had press passes confiscated; the White House referred questions to Trump's earlier remarks. The dispute is over whether President Trump should exclude named news organizations from White House access over what they report.

About this source
Politico reports that Fox News Washington bureau chief and TV pool chair Bryan Boughton told pool subscribers the TV pool would not cover pool-designated presidential events after the White House prevented CNN from fulfilling its scheduled Monday pool duty, and that ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and NBC then issued a joint statement objecting to the exclusion. Reported by Politico's White House team; attributed to the networks' own statement and Boughton's email.

About this source
CNN reporting, republished via Yahoo News, independently confirms the same joint statement text and Boughton email reported by Politico, and adds that CNN secured its place in the White House TV pool after suing the Reagan administration and ABC, CBS and NBC in 1981.
Archived copy (opens in a new tab)Before the quotation
CNN was scheduled as the Monday television pool network; the White House's Sunday-night daily guidance listed no primary TV pool for Monday, removing CNN from the assignment without naming a replacement.
After the quotation
As of September 21, the White House had not issued a response specifically addressing the networks' joint statement or the pool suspension, beyond its earlier remarks defending the exclusion of CNN, MS NOW and Politico.
How this statement is classified
The label describes this statement's response within the context above.
Why this label?
Fox News was not itself excluded, but by co-signing the joint statement and suspending its own pool duties in solidarity, it joins the other networks in objecting to the exclusion as improper government retaliation against a news organization's reporting. This is an institutional condemnation of the ban, not merely a procedural pool-scheduling notice.
