Role at the time: U.S. representative from Arizona, posting on X
Statement summary
Rep. Yassamin Ansari wrote on X that she and Raskin are demanding answers from Blanche and Rubio, and that the administration and the Trump family must keep being pressed over what she called their efforts to protect the Tate brothers.
“We must remain vigilant and keep pressing the Administration and the Trump family on their efforts to protect the Tate Brothers.”
Ansari announces the letter she and Raskin sent to Blanche and Rubio, recalls her July 23 request to House Oversight Chairman James Comer, and says the administration and the Trump family must keep being pressed.
The reference point is the Trump administration's reported actions on the Tate brothers' behalf and whether it will intervene in their criminal cases, including the British extradition requests. Ansari describes the administration and the Trump family as trying to protect the brothers and calls for continued pressure, which criticizes that conduct.
Role at the time: U.S. representative for Arizona’s 3rd congressional district
Response to this claim
The ICE officer fired in self-defense after Lorenzo Salgado Araujo attempted to run over an officer with his van.
“This is Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a 52-year-old father who was driving to work and was shot and murdered while doing so. He was not a domestic terrorist; he wasn’t going to ram his vehicle into anybody.”
Official transcript of Ansari’s House floor remarks. She called the Houston shooting a murder, rejected ICE’s allegation that Salgado Araujo tried to ram an officer and accused the agency of lying.
Archived copy (opens in a new tab)Relative to the ICE officer’s fatal use of force, Ansari expressly calls the shooting a murder and rejects the asserted vehicular threat. This directly condemns the conduct under scrutiny.
Role at the time: Member of the U.S. House of Representatives
Statement summary
Yassamin Ansari signed the congressional letter criticizing DOJ's broad denaturalization priorities and requesting safeguards.
“Action: Signed the July 31, 2025 congressional letter challenging DOJ's expanded denaturalization priorities. Signature appears on page 6.”
The signers criticize the scope of DOJ's June directive and request enforcement counts and safeguards. They accept rigorous denaturalization proceedings against former Nazis who concealed their crimes. Their warnings about political targeting are allegations and concerns, not court findings.
Archived copy (opens in a new tab)Signing the letter expresses criticism of the expanded campaign under scrutiny. Acceptance of rigorous revocation proceedings in grave fraud cases does not make the letter's criticism of this directive conditional.
