Statement summary
La Rue Hatch says switching surveillance vendors fails to address constituents' objections to government tracking.
“Announcing the end of Flock just to switch to another intrusive tech surveillance company is an insult to our community”
Michael Lyle reports the Reno vote and direct responses from officials and the ACLU of Nevada.
The reference point is networked license-plate surveillance. La Rue Hatch condemns retaining that surveillance through a different vendor.
Role at the time: Nevada assemblymember
Statement summary
Hatch backed legislation to ban Flock and other networked license-plate readers across Nevada.
“I'm proud to sponsor this bill to ban Flock and ALRP surveillance networks.”
The ACLU of Nevada release quotes Hatch on a proposed state ban covering Flock and other ALPR networks.
She calls for eliminating the networks rather than limiting access to their data.
