Statement summary
Rep. Riley Moore said in a March 5 press release that he voted against a war powers resolution on Operation Epic Fury because the Trump administration is following the law, and that the resolution would prematurely and needlessly restrict the commander in chief.

Archived copy (opens in a new tab)The case asks about support for the war in Iran. Moore says "the Trump Administration is following the law" and votes against the war powers resolution, which backs the operation, so we used Defended or excused. Statement summary
Rep. Riley Moore (R-W.Va.) told the Washington Examiner that congressional Republicans and Trump would make sure the $5,000 dividends are done in a fiscally responsible way. He pointed to strong jobs numbers and tariff revenue and said he expects Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and others to look at how to do it responsibly.
“We are having really, really good jobs numbers, which means more people are paying payroll taxes and everything else And then you got the revenue that’s been coming in from the tariffs as well.”
Washington Examiner report on Republican reactions to Trump's $5,000 dividend pledge after the party's midterm convention, including remarks from Rep. Riley Moore, Rep. Chip Roy and party officials.
Archived copy (opens in a new tab)The case's reference point is Trump's pledge of $5,000 to each adult citizen if Republicans keep Congress, including how it would be paid for. Moore points to jobs numbers and tariff revenue but ties the dividends to being done in a fiscally responsible way, which he says Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and others will look at. He neither rejects the pledge nor endorses it without that condition, so we labeled it Mixed or conditional.
