Statement summary
In a candidate questionnaire, Katherine Clark criticizes widespread AI surveillance as a threat to Americans' rights. She names Flock and Palantir, says she is working with Democratic colleagues on a policy framework and calls for regulation to protect constitutional rights. Her response does not specify a ban, warrant requirement or data-retention rule.
“The widespread adoption of AI surveillance poses an unprecedented threat to the rights, dignity, and security of the American people.”
Mass 50501 asks candidates about AI-powered surveillance cameras, naming Flock Safety and planned nationwide FBI access to plate-reader records. Clark names Flock and Palantir while criticizing Trump and Republicans. She says she is developing a policy framework with Democratic colleagues, calls for regulation and argues that AI tools must respect constitutional protections. The publisher says candidate answers were limited to 100 words and lightly copy edited. Clark's answer has no separate length-reduction note.
Relative to the use of Flock-style plate-surveillance networks, Clark calls widespread AI surveillance a threat and criticizes deference to Flock. Her call for regulation does not turn that criticism into support for continued camera use.
