Statement summary
Hewitt praises Buttigieg for separating himself from what Hewitt calls El-Sayed's radicalism and says he is waiting for Rahm Emanuel to do the same.
“Thus far only @PeteButtigieg has separated himself from the radicalism of Abdul El-Sayed. It was deft but definite.”
Hewitt interprets Buttigieg's comments as separating himself from El-Sayed and urges other Democrats to reject the position. This is Hewitt's assessment; Buttigieg maintained his electoral support.
Reference point: El-Sayed's refusal to rank Israel and Iran as threats and his comparison of the dangers they pose. Condemned: posting the morning after Buttigieg's Fox News answer, Hewitt calls El-Sayed's position radicalism and praises Buttigieg for separating himself from it. Defended or excused does not fit, since the praise is for Buttigieg's break with El-Sayed, not for the answer.

Statement summary
Hewitt says El-Sayed is either ignorant of the facts he cites or too radical to admit them, and argues he should not be a senator.
“El-Sayed is either ignorant of these facts or so radical as to refuse to admit them. Either way he should never be close to the United States Senate.”
Hewitt quotes reporting of El-Sayed's comparison and argues that the answer disqualifies him from the Senate.
Reference point: El-Sayed's refusal to rank Israel and Iran as threats and his comparison of the dangers they pose. Condemned: after quoting the answer, Hewitt lists Iranian attacks on Americans, says El-Sayed is either ignorant of them or too radical to admit them, and says he should not be a senator. Challenged the characterization loses because Hewitt rejects the answer and the candidate rather than only disputing how it describes the two countries.
