Role at the time: Podcaster, before serving as FBI deputy director
Response to this claim
The FBI knew who planted the January 2021 pipe bombs but concealed that information.
“the FBI knew the entire time the identity of this person and then tried to unknow it”
Senators quote Bongino's November 2024 and January 2025 podcast allegations of an FBI inside job and prior knowledge of the pipe bomber. We could not play the original Rumble segments the letter links. The letter itself is original evidence of the senators' challenge.
Archived copy (opens in a new tab)Condemns the FBI conduct he alleged; the source is a Senate letter quoting his January podcast, which has not been independently replayed.

Role at the time: Deputy Director of the FBI
Response to this claim
The FBI knew who planted the January 2021 pipe bombs but concealed that information.
“I was paid in the past, Sean, for my opinions. That's clear and one day I'll be back in that space, but that's not what I'm paid for now. I'm paid to be your Deputy Director and we base investigations on facts”
Fox News video of Bongino's interview with Sean Hannity on the night of Brian Cole Jr.'s arrest. The excerpt follows the video's captions and was checked against an audio transcription of the segment.
Archived copy (opens in a new tab)Reference point: Bongino's accusation that FBI officials knew the bomber's identity and concealed it. Asked directly about that accusation, Bongino redirects to his change of role rather than affirming or retracting it, so we used Explicitly stayed out. Challenged the characterization is close, but he does not dispute the cover-up label; his remark that his side evolves as new information comes out suggests a different view without stating one. The Condemned label on his January 2025 remark no longer fits because he does not repeat the allegation. Evidence: primary, the Fox News video of the interview, checked against its captions and an audio transcription.
