Statement summary
Sen. Chuck Schumer said Trump is doing "a deal with the devil" to help his political fortunes, and blamed high diesel prices on what he called Trump's "reckless, illegal war in the Middle East".
“Trump is doing a deal with the devil to try to help his flailing political fortunes from the shockingly high diesel prices caused by his own reckless, illegal war in the Middle East.”
Chuck Schumer's own post on his official account.
The case asks whether the U.S. should ease sanctions on Russian diesel to lower fuel prices, as the administration did on October 9. Schumer calls the arrangement "a deal with the devil" and says it "will only aid and abet" Putin. That opposes the easing, so we labeled it Condemned. The closest competing label is Mixed or conditional; it loses because the post contains no support for the arrangement.
