Camille Rivera
Role at the time: Democratic political strategist, in a column for The Nation
Statement summary
In an October 7, 2026 column in The Nation, Democratic strategist Camille Rivera wrote that Florida is under-invested rather than red and that it is time for the DSCC and national donors to fund Angie Nixon's Senate campaign. She welcomed Nixon's report that party leaders plan to invest and said Nixon's democratic socialist politics are not out of step with voters.
“Angie Nixon is the nominee Democratic voters chose to lead them. It’s time Democratic institutions such as the DSCC and national donors started letting the money flow.”
Rivera argues that Democratic institutions should fund Nixon and improve Latino outreach. Her column also acknowledges Nixon's report of prospective leadership investment. It establishes Rivera's argument, not the reason for funding decisions.

The reference point is whether national Democrats are holding back money from Nixon's campaign, and why. Rivera criticizes the holdback: she writes that Florida is under-invested, tells donors and Democratic institutions to stop pausing, and answers the concern about Nixon's democratic socialism by saying her policies fit what voters want. That rejects the decision to hold back, so we labeled it Condemned. She does not say the DSCC is acting on Nixon's ideology or identity, and she calls Nixon's report of planned leadership investment good news; neither defends the holdback.
