Bradley P. Moss
Role at the time: National security attorney and CNN interview guest
Statement summary
Bradley Moss told CNN on December 5, 2025 that the arrest of Brian Cole Jr. defeated the theories, including those voiced by Dan Bongino and Kash Patel, that someone at the FBI or the Capitol Police planted the pipe bombs. He added that this assumes Cole is proven in court to be the person responsible.
“this defeated all of the theories, all the conspiracies for the last four years about who this particular pipe bomber could have been. Assuming of course, this person is actually proven in a court of law to have been that person. All the theories that the Trump team, that Dan Bongino, that Kash Patel, everybody was saying was this was an inside job. This was somebody at the bureau. This was someone from the Capitol Police.”
Moss's conditional response to the pipe-bomb arrest and inside-job theories.
Why we used this label
The case classifies responses to Bongino's accusation that FBI officials knew the bomber's identity and concealed an inside operation. Moss said the arrest of Brian Cole Jr. defeated the inside-job theories that Bongino and others had advanced, and added that this assumes Cole is proven in court to be the person responsible. That rejects the accusation but states a condition on doing so, so we labeled it Mixed or conditional. Challenged the characterization is the closest competing label; it loses because he expressly conditions the conclusion on a court's finding.
