Role at the time: Political commentator and podcaster, in a social-media statement reported by The New York Times
Statement summary
Johnson celebrated the decision and argued that excluding the outlets from White House access did not infringe their ability to report.
“No one is infringing on their ability to do reporting.”
The Times's live report attributes statements to White House communications director Steven Cheung, Senator Bernie Sanders and commentator Benny Johnson while covering enforcement of the ban.
In the reported context, Johnson celebrates the decision and minimizes its effect by arguing that the outlets remain able to report, which excuses the exclusion.
Role at the time: Host of The Benny Johnson Show, posting on X
Statement summary
In an X post with a video of Rep. Ilhan Omar being questioned, Benny Johnson wrote that she “melted down, denied there was an active investigation and ran away into an elevator,” that “it’s been confirmed by” Vice President JD Vance, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, Attorney General Todd Blanche, border czar Tom Homan and Stephen Miller, and “Send her back.” The attached video is a Benny Johnson Show cut that includes LindellTV’s footage of Omar being questioned, Johnson’s commentary, in which he says she has been “credibly accused” of marrying her brother, and a clip of Mullin. Johnson’s description of the video and of who has confirmed what is his own.
“Ilhan Omar SNAPPED at Reporter Asking Her If She’s About to Get DEPORTED” … “The Congresswoman melted down, denied there was an active investigation and ran away into an elevator.” … “It’s been confirmed by: -VP JD Vance -DHS Sec. Markwayne Mullin -AG Todd Blanche -Border Czar Tom Homan -Stephen Miller” … “Send her back.”
Benny Johnson’s own post, published at 8:11 p.m. EDT on September 17, 2026, with an attached video of Rep. Ilhan Omar being questioned.
Johnson asserts the accusation and the investigation as confirmed by named officials and calls for Omar’s removal. That defends the accusation and its pursuit. The closest competing label is “Mixed or conditional”; it loses because the post attaches no condition.
Role at the time: Conservative political commentator
Response to this claim
Ilhan Omar is worth more than $44 million.
“How did Ilhan Omar make millions from a 100% fake winery?”
Johnson asserted that Omar made millions through eStCru and questioned the company's reported valuation.
Johnson supports the case's broader millionaire premise, but does not endorse Trump's exact $44 million amount.
