Lila Rose of Live Action says the abortion pill "must be banned" and that Hawley's legislation does exactly that
Lila RoseFounder and president of Live Action, in a statement of support released through Senator Hawley's office
Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action, said in a statement of support released through Senator Hawley's office that the abortion pill must be banned and that his legislation does exactly that. She called it a necessary and urgent step to shut down what she called a deadly abortion industry.
“The abortion pill has fueled a deadly and deeply inhumane abortion industry that has killed millions of preborn babies and leaves women abandoned to suffer the physical and emotional consequences alone. For years, the abortion lobby has marketed these drugs as safe and easy while concealing the truth: nearly every time a pregnant mother takes the abortion pill, it ends the life of her living human child, and far too many women are left without real medical care when they are hemorrhaging or have a blood infection due to the abortion pill. The next step is clear. The abortion pill must be banned. Senator Hawley’s legislation does exactly that. It is a necessary and urgent step to shut down this deadly abortion industry, including its dangerous mail order abortion business, and protect mothers and their children”

Where this statement fits
Should Congress ban the abortion pill, mifepristone, as Josh Hawley has proposed?
On March 11, 2026, Senator Josh Hawley introduced the Safeguarding Women from Chemical Abortion Act, which would withdraw the Food and Drug Administration's approval of mifepristone for pregnancy termination, make distributing and labeling the drug for that purpose violations of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, and let women who say chemical abortion harmed them sue its manufacturers. Mifepristone has been approved in the United States since 2000 and is used in a large majority of American abortions. Hawley argues a national ban is the only remedy because the drug can be mailed into states whose own laws restrict abortion. The bill drew seven Republican cosponsors but has not moved out of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. On September 16, 2026, Hawley unveiled a four-page "Declaration for Life" and began asking officeholders and candidates to sign it as a commitment to ban the drug. The dispute is over whether Congress should enact that ban.
