Tillis backs a later probe, calls arrangement colossally bad judgment, stops short of a subpoena now

Relative to whether the Judiciary Committee should subpoena Donald Trump Jr. now, Tillis combines materially different positions. He is critical of the underlying conduct, calling it colossally bad judgment at best and saying it looks pretty dumb on its face, which leans toward condemnation of the arrangement. But on the case central question, a subpoena, he explicitly declined to say whether he would support one now and instead conditioned any Judiciary Committee investigation on the outcome of the election: after the election, if everybodys still interested in it, then lets do it. That express, unresolved timing condition on the committee action itself, combined with criticism of the conduct short of calling for present subpoena, is a “Mixed or conditional” position rather than a clean condemns or “Defended or excused”.
