Hoyer condemns Trump’s decision to go to war without congressional approval as unconstitutional and criticizes the lack of a coherent plan.
“Brute force alone cannot overcome the Iranian threat and bring stability to the region.”
He calls the attack an act of war and says its purported goal of stopping terrorism is defensible, while rejecting the unilateral decision to wage it. He demands Congress exercise its war powers and warns that force alone cannot bring stability or ensure a better successor regime.
