Nancy Mace
Role at the time: Republican U.S. representative from South Carolina, posting on X
Statement summary
Rep. Nancy Mace, a South Carolina Republican, quote-posted a Libs of TikTok post about Arminio’s removal from the forum and added the comment “The Left policing biology and speech...”. The post she quoted says Arminio was right.
“The Left policing biology and speech...”
Post from Rep. Nancy Mace’s verified @NancyMace account. It quotes a September 20 post by Libs of TikTok about Arminio’s removal, which says “Joe is correct.” Mace’s own comment above the quoted post is “The Left policing biology and speech...”.
Why we used this label
Relative to whether Arminio’s conduct warranted his removal from the forum, Mace’s comment frames the removal as “The Left policing biology and speech”, treating his remarks as speech that was wrongly policed, on a post that says Arminio was right. That defends the conduct. The closest competing label, “Challenged the characterization”, loses because she does more than dispute a description: she objects to the removal itself.
