I would vote for a War Powers Resolution directing the removal of U.S. forces from hostilities against Iran unless Congress has authorized the action or there is an imminent threat requiring a response. The Constitution gives Congress the power to declare war. Decisions that could put American service members in harm’s way must receive congressional debate and authorization. I would press for diplomacy, protect U.S. personnel, and oppose an unauthorized, open-ended war.
S. Prescott Harris II, writing from swingstate.solutions, sent this statement by email on Bradshaw's behalf in reply to a Dispute Index request about the Iran war, presenting it as her answer to whether she would vote for a war powers resolution. The link is to her campaign website; the statement itself is not published there.
Archived copy (opens in a new tab)Why we used this label
The case tracks support for continued U.S. military operations against Iran, including whether a candidate would vote for a war powers resolution to remove U.S. forces from hostilities. Bradshaw says she would vote for that resolution and opposes an unauthorized, open-ended war. Her exceptions, congressional authorization or an imminent threat, do not apply to the operation as it stands, which Congress has not authorized, so we labeled it Condemned.
