Statement summary
Malloy defends Trump’s Iran military action as deterrence and disputes claims that it was illegal.
“Stopping a larger war before it begins is leadership.”
In a public letter to Representative Becca Balint, Malloy argues the president has commander-in-chief authority and asserts the administration met War Powers Resolution notification requirements. He argues preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons protects Americans and disputes claims that Vermonters unanimously oppose the action. The record documents his position, not the accuracy of his legal assertions. The original post visibly displays March 2; contemporaneous comments identify 2026. Exact posting time is unavailable.
Malloy expressly justifies the Iran action as deterrence and leadership, beyond merely disputing its legal characterization.
