Patty Hansen
Role at the time: Candidate for Flagstaff City Council
Statement summary
Patty Hansen said she opposes the use of Flock cameras in Flagstaff and was pleased that the City Council canceled the contract in December 2025 after residents spoke out.
“Flock cameras are automated license plate readers and vehicle surveillance technology. I oppose their use in Flagstaff. When the City entered into a contract with Flock in June 2024, the residents were not given an opportunity to weigh in on their use. I was pleased with the City Council’s December 2025 decision to cancel the contract after residents spoke out.”
Arizona Daily Sun feature in its 2026 candidate question series, printing the written answers of Flagstaff City Council and mayoral candidates to a question about Flock cameras. The paper says the answers were limited to 150 words and printed unedited unless a candidate went over that limit.

The reference point is whether networked license-plate reader systems such as Flock should exist and be used. Hansen wrote that she opposes their use in Flagstaff and welcomed the council's decision to cancel the city's Flock contract. That is a rejection of the system in the city, so Condemned fits.
