Banks's own post on his official X account (@SenatorBanks, government-verified, linked from banks.senate.gov). It quotes a post by the White House Rapid Response account (@RapidResponse47, 5:23 PM EDT) that consists only of an image of Trump's Truth Social announcement. Read on 2026-09-19 through api.fxtwitter.com, api.vxtwitter.com and X's syndication endpoint, which agree on the text and on the timestamp (21:59:35 UTC); the timestamp also decodes from the post ID and the syndication record shows the post was never edited. No archive copy was made (the Internet Archive does not capture x.com).
Why we used this label
The case's fixed reference point is President Trump's September 18, 2026 Truth Social description of the not-yet-signed, unpublished U.S.-Denmark-Greenland agreement as giving the United States permanent control over security and all other needs in Greenland. Banks calls the agreement "historic," says Trump "proved the foreign policy establishment wrong again," and says it ensures the United States and its allies can secure Greenland and the High North against adversaries "for generations to come," which approves the agreement and describes its effect as long-lasting, in line with Trump's account. The closest competing label is challenges_characterization, because Banks speaks of the United States and "our allies" securing Greenland rather than repeating "permanent control." That loses because he does not dispute or reframe Trump's description; he endorses the agreement without qualification.
